Where Will my Family Photo Shoot Take Place?

LOCATION

I offer outdoor shoots in Wokingham, Bracknell and surrounding areas.

Outdoor shoots can take place at your favourite park or in your own garden.

Alternatively, I can recommend some great locations.  I usually drive around my favourite spots a few days before your session, so I can ensure that we head to the best place for colourful backgrounds that week, whether it be daffodils, bluebells, meadow flowers, lakes, trees or Autumn leaves.

Settings I love to use are South Hill Park, Lily Hill Park, Popes Meadow, Heath Lake and Joel Park.

What if it Rains?

THE WEATHER

As I specialise in outdoor shoots, it does mean sessions are dependent on the British weather!  So if it’s raining, or there is really dark cloud cover, I’m afraid we would need to postpone your shoot and rearrange an alternative date.

However, I usually only book one shoot per day, so there is the scope to weather watch and choose the morning or afternoon depending on the forecast.

DOES IT NEED TO BE SUNNY?  It may surprise you that the perfect weather for an outdoor shoot is actually light cloud.  The sun creates harsh shadows on faces and a photo of you all squinting is not ideal.  So on sunny days, I may need to seek shade under the trees.

What Style of Family Photography do you Offer?

MY PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE

I love natural, fun, vibrant images.  Throughout your shoot, I will suggest various locations with great backdrops or a fun area to explore (depending on the age of your children).

I usually aim to capture a mix of posed and action images.  Sibling and group pictures need to be a little more posed (as you need to be near each other!), but I try a mix of sitting, standing and walking shots.  The key is for you to treat the shoot as a family day out - interacting, playing, talking and laughing together - allowing me to really capture some great family moments.

My speciality is close up photos!  I love to capture at least one shot of your children looking up directly into my lens to catch the light in their eyes.

What Should I Wear?

OUTFITS & CO-ORDINATING COLOURS

As I offer relaxed outdoor shoots, you can wear whatever you like - dress up smart or come in walking gear!  As a general rule, I would say "smart casual" is a safe bet, especially as you will be looking at your lovely photos for many years to come.

Collars look better than round neck t-shirts.  Avoid large logos, big pictures or very bold stripes/checks. For footwear, we walk quite far and it's sometimes muddy, so high heels may not be ideal!

I love bright colours as a contrast against the green/brown tones of nature.  It also depends on the time of year.  For example, shocking pink and white look amazing amongst the bluebells, whereas reds and yellows can look fab against the Autumn leaves.

For group shots, it works really well if you wear different tones of the same colour or complimentary colours.  For example, different shades of blue work really well together, or blues with pinks.

Should I Bring any Toys, Scooters or other Props?

PROPS

Please feel free to bring any props along to your shoot.  Perhaps your child plays a musical instrument?  Or your younger child has a special teddy that never leaves their side? Or maybe your child loves books and I could capture them reading by a tree or sitting with you as you share a moment together?

SHOULD I BRING A FOOTBALL? We can certainly take a few pictures of your child holding a ball and/or doing a few tricks, but I wouldn't recommend trying to capture a "kick around" as your child will usually just run off with the ball at 100mph without any photo opportunities!

SHOULD I BRING BUBBLES? Bubbles are great fun for younger children to capture some gorgeous "wonder" expressions, but they don't always work with older children who may prefer to fight their way through them with a slightly more determined face!

Can I Bring my Dog?

DOGS ARE WELCOME

I would be delighted to include your furry friend(s) in the shoot.  After all, outdoor sessions are perfect for this! It's entirely up to you and might depend on how well behaved your dog is, as I know for some clients the challenge of bringing both their toddlers and a dog can be a little too daunting

Alternatively, why not treat your pet to their very own shoot!

How Will I View my Images after my Shoot?

PHOTO VIEWING

After your shoot, I will carefully select and edit your best photos to create a beautiful gallery of images (around 40 images).  I love to share those images with you in person, so I will contact you to arrange a slideshow viewing.

I will also use this appointment to show you examples of the wall art products I offer and advise you on some creative ways to display your lovely images.

Following your appointment, your images will also be available to view in a private, password protected, online photo gallery, where you can browse through them at home as many times you you like before making your final decision.

(COVID-19 Update: please note at the current time all viewings will be via private online gallery only and product options discussed by email/phone).

What Products do you Offer?

PRODUCTS

I'm very much a product based photographer - I'm passionate about the beautiful images I create and I want you to enjoy them in your homes as high-quality professional prints and/or wall art.  However, I do offer digital copies as well, either as a stand-alone product, or heavily discounted if you spend over £100 on prints/wall art.

For each client, I create a bespoke "wall art ideas" document with examples of your images displayed in my most popular products.  I have samples of all my wall art products which we can look at during your photo viewing appointment.  To help you with your decision, I am more than happy to bring these to your home to discuss what type and size of wall art best fits your decor and available wall space.
